Photo Insurance — New for 2026
We are proud to be the first lab to offer Photo Insurance, a new add-on designed to help recover images affected by common photographer mistakes and minor image issues.
This service is intended to improve photos impacted by incorrect camera settings, forgetting to use flash, or the challenges that can come with shooting recently expired film. In many cases, we can correct images with up to 40% image loss, depending on the condition of the original photo. We may also be able to remove small unwanted distractions, such as a finger too close to the lens or very minor light leaks.
Photo Insurance does not cover everything. It does not apply to blank film, most camera-related problems, or developing-related issues beyond incorrect camera settings. Developing charges are non-refundable.
This add-on is priced per roll. If an entire roll is completely blank, or every image on the roll is too degraded to be corrected, the Photo Insurance fee will be automatically refunded. The insurance fee is not refundable for any other reason.
Please note that we cannot recover what is too dark to see. Images that are extremely dark or completely black cannot be restored. On very dark photos, facial details may change during the correction process.
Photo Insurance is available as an add-on to our basic developing services, including C-41, C-41 Express, Black and White, and ECN-2.
This service is not available with E-6 developing. Some specialty services, including Seattle Film Works and Expired Film Developing, may already include similar coverage. For questions, please contact us at service@needfilmdeveloped.com.
